One of the most difficult aspects of the BP claims process is assembling and presenting the initial documentation that is required to actually initiate the claim after you have received a claim number and been assigned an adjuster.
We are working with the accounting firm Carr Riggs and Ingram (“CRI”) to ensure that a complete picture of our client’s losses is provided to the adjuster. Accordingly, CRI is actively working with our clients to calculate an accurate model of past and future damages for presentment to the Fund.
As the BP Claims Process prepares to transition into the hands of Mr. Kenneth Feinberg’s Gulf Recovery Fund, we do not believe the process will change significantly. Within a few months of the well being finally plugged, however, claimants will have to prepare a final claim if they wish to apply to the Fund. We will work with our clients to ensure that they understand the consequences of applying and/or settling their claims with the Fund, so that they may make informed decisions of how best to proceed with their claims, whether in the Fund or via litigation.
